Doernbecher Children’s Hospital latest family FUN-raising project starts in two weeks on Saturday, July 24. The will showcase 5 handcrafted children’s playhouses on display from Saturday, July 24 through Sunday, August 14, 2010 at Bridgeport Village Mall. With tremendous imagination and creativity, volunteer builders, landscapers, and scores of volunteers have come to together to create, construct and decorate whimsical little cottages that look like they have popped out from the pages of a fairytale. The playhouses range from 8 feet to 11 feet high and sit on wooden frames. Each house has a shingled roof, a Dutch door, safety windows with screens, and cool child-inspired interiors.
The Storybook Playhouse Project was conceived as a fun-filled interactive community event that would involve children and adults alike, while raising money for a wonderful cause. Similar projects around the country have successfully raised money that have benefited numerous organizations and community needs, and have proven year after year to be a way to bring families together for the common good. We invite you to join us and celebrate the joys of childhood as the Storybook Playhouse Project brings these magical tales to life in the Storybook Playhouse Village and our guest and professional readers enchant us all.

Please Adopt-a-Playhouse window, door, hardware, shutters or window box today. Our playhouse display date is just around the corner and we still need help with completing the playhouses. A small personal contribution of $25 up or more would truly go a long way. Your donation will enable us to pay for these select items for a playhouse.

This amazing project features a showcase of storybook themed playhouses designed and built by a select group of Portland's local architects and home builders. These child-size dream homes are fully furnished by professional interior designers and volunteers, with custom home details such as custom painting, eco-conscious floors and hand carved woodwork.
Each charming playhouse is a one-of-a-kind design, carefully crafted to enchant any child's imagination. Two playhouses will be awarded to lucky winners through a raffle drawing. The other playhouses will be given away to Portland children's charities.
